About

Mike Wong

Originally from Hong Kong, Mike Wong moved to Vancouver, BC, as a young child. Being active in sports and developing an interest in injury treatment and prevention, he was determined to become a Physiotherapist from high school. Through injuries and managing other health conditions, Mike was exposed to the rich history and effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and has always appreciated the value of their principles and techniques. He has found many of these techniques complementary to Physiotherapy to enhance one’s health.

Mike Wong holds a Bachelor of Human Kinetics specializing in Exercise Science from UBC and a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. He continued to pursue post graduate education in advanced Manual Therapy at Curtin University in Perth, Australia from renowned instructors in their field. His interest in acupuncture encouraged him to study and become certified through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (now Acupuncture Canada). He continued his studies in Dry Needling/IMS with Dr. Yun-Tao Ma and Scalp Acupuncture treatment techniques with Dr. Jishun Hao, both internationally respected clinicians and instructors in their field.

Mike is a Registered Physiotherapist in Burnaby in good standing with CPTBC. He is a well rounded Physiotherapist who has worked in a variety of health care settings that allows him to appreciate and understand the journey and complexity of rehabilitation. Early in his career he has helped clients at Richmond Hospital in the medical units/ICU, achieving recovery goals for safe home discharge and improving their independence. Further, Mike continued to provide injury management and treatment for complex cases in Occupational Rehabilitation programs (OR) settings for work-related injuries.

He has worked in a range of physiotherapy clinics across the Lower Mainland, including Richmond, Coquitlam, Burnaby, and Vancouver, learning from experienced clinicians and colleagues alike. He has gained diverse experience that allows him to provide the highest quality care for his clients.
